Did you hear about the teenager that found out she had Crohn's disease by obtaining a slide of her own intestinal tissue and looking at it under a microscope at school? This was after her doctor told her he didn't know what was causing her stomach problems.
More than ever these days we need to be our own advocate when it comes to staying healthy. Trust your instincts and pursue more than one opinion if your ill and not getting better.
Write down any questions you have before your appointment with your physician and pull this list out during your visit to make sure you don't forget to ask about something important regarding your problem.
Keep track of the medicines you are taking and keep a daily log of how you are feeling and if the treatment is helping your symptoms. Call your doctor and let them know if what they prescribed is not working.
